So you’re intrigued about possibly participating in The Community Table Project, but want to know a little more about how it works? Here’re the answers to some commonly asked questions that may help clear things up for you.
So what is The Community Table Project?
This project is all about sharing signature recipes of everyday folks and creating a sense of community around food.
I have a recipe that everyone loves. What do I do next?
Well, you need only send me an email at baconhound@gmail.com and tell me you’d like to participate. I will then send you a few questions so I can get an idea about who you are and what your recipe is.
Ok, so I’ve told you about myself and my signature recipe… how do we proceed from there?
Well, ideally, we would set up a time to meet with you, sample the recipe, and take some pictures. After that, it’s just a matter of me getting the story and recipe written up and posted here on Baconhound.
Wait a second, you’re saying in order to participate and share the awesomeness of my signature dish I have to have some hungry stranger over to my house?
No, not at all. Part of the project is to create a community around food, but we completely understand that not everyone will be down with having a stranger over to their house. We certainly don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable or feel forced into anything. If you can provide some good quality, well-lit pictures that look sharp, we can absolutely get it done over email.
I’m not a chef, but I make a mean lasagna. Is that ok?
Oh hell yeah! This project is all about home cooking, and even if you only make one dish that rocks, that one recipe needs to be shared with food lovers everywhere!
I am a chef/restauranteur and have a recipe I’d like to share. Am I still considered “everyday folk”?
You sure are! I think it would be fantastic to highlight meaningful dishes that chefs make at home for their families.
I’m a vegetarian/vegan. Since your website is Baconhound, should I bother sending you my recipe?
Of course you should! I am looking for whatever you love to make, even if there’s no meat (or gluten or dairy). We don’t discriminate against asparagus, brussels sprouts, or even tofu around here.
You’re probably just looking for main dishes, hey? What if the only amazing thing I make is a killer homemade ketchup or a signature cocktail I invented one time at 3am when I was in college?
Are you kidding me? A great homemade condiment, side dish, or drink would be fantastic!

This post needs a like button. Hopefully this project becomes a repository of great Edmonton recipes, both from home cooks and some of Edmonton’s best loved restaurants.

This is an absolute great idea. I think once this reaches a critical mass of recipes, it should become a Baconhound cookbook which highlights the great food and people of the Edmonton area with the proceeds going to a charity in Edmonton. Cheers

I don’t live in Edmonton, (I don’t live in Calgary either), but it is a brilliant idea. I LOVE to cook, and have people come over to eat.
I have been adding recipes to my blog for over 4 years.
