Summer may be drawing to an inevitably sad close, but that doesn’t mean we can’t continue to enjoy some tasty summer cocktails until the snow flies. I enlisted my friend, not to mention noted cocktail enthusiast, Sasha McCauley to share a few of her favourite summer cocktails.
This first drink, Strawberry Fields Forever, looks fantastic and would be really refreshing on a hot sunny day. Looks like I’m going to have to stock up my liquor cabinet.
Here’s how to make the magic happen, in Sasha’s own words.
I’m a huge fan of making cocktails from ingredients on hand, especially fresh summer fruit, and good quality spirits.
Strawberries are a summer favourite, farmers market baskets full of ripe berries are hard to resist. Mix with lime, Asom Broso Silver Tequila, Domaine de Canton, and Agave Syrup for a delicious adult beverage.
Strawberry Fields Forever
~handfull of ripe strawberries, steams removed
~juice from one fresh squeezed lime (approx 1oz)
~2 oz Asom Broso Tequila
~.5 oz Domaine de Canton
~ 1 Tablespoon Agave Syrup*
In shaker muddle strawberries, lime juice to break berries down into chunks. Add Asom Broso Tequila, Domaine de Canton and Agave Syrup, muddle a bit more, check for sweetness adjust accordingly. Add ice to shaker, shake vigorously, strain either into chilled cocktail glass or over rocks in old fashion glass.
Enjoy!
*the great thing with cocktailing at home you can adjust the sweetness level according to your taste. If you like sweeter, add more, more bitter add less.
