This coming Saturday, March 15, is the 3rd annual Culinary Arts Cookoff, a fundraiser for the Mount Royal School (11303 55 st) in North East Edmonton. According to Karlynn Johnson (The Kitchen Magpie), the event kicks off at 11am, and its a good idea to get there early to have a look through the many auction items up for grabs before digging in to the eats.
The theme this year is pasta – “noodles and doodles” – and 10 local restaurants are competing for your votes in the public’s choice category (there is also kids choice, most creative, and judges choice categories).
At $2.00 per sample, it’s a pretty affordable option for lunch, and you’d be hard pressed to finish them all.
Speaking of judges, there is an impressive cast this year including Chef Stanley Townsend from Nait, and a trio of food writers- Edmonton Journal writer Liane Faulder , Valerie Lugonja of “A Canadian Foodie”, Jennie Marshall of Yelp, and of course yours truly.
Check out the cookoff’s homepage here for more details, and I hope to see you there!
